Christmas tunes - V2

Twenty well-known songs for the festive season are published here under the title ‘Weihnachtsweisen’ (Christmas tunes) in quartet and piano settings. It is primarily intended for string instruments, whether in simple or choral scoring. By octaving the I. and II. However, woodwinds such as flute, oboe and clarinet can also be included. The non-obligatory piano part of the score makes it possible to perform the songs in smaller groups of 1 to 3 violins with cello or for piano alone. The viola part can also be played by violins (third violin). It is possible to expand the instrumentation with double bass or bassoon with the help of an additional violoncello part. The keys of the songs were chosen with a view to achieving a good singing range. It was not necessary to print the texts as these songs can be found in all hymn or chorale books and are generally known.
