Der studierte Violinist und Komponist Matija Bravni?ar war zunächst Mitglied des Opernorchesters von Ljubljana. Später lehrte er als Kompoositionsprofessor. Sein Werk umfasst zwei Opern, vier Sinfonien, Kammermusik u.a., das sich sich immer wieder auf Motive traditioneller slowenischer Musik besinnt.
